The solitary path: Are we the crazies...or are they?

I have left society behind me and I love following my own path. My connection with the rocks, plants and animals in my environment is very deep and special. But there are people who think I'm headed on the path to - if not madness - eccentricity. I have taken them for walks in the woods and they think I'm "looney" because I pause over a rock and just fawn over it's beauty. Yet I feel that those people who live for their computers and IPODS, who think they're saving the environment because they remembered to turn off a light that wasn't needed and who are never seen without a cell phone against their ears are, indeed, the one's headed towards madness.

Must we, as Hedge Witches, accept that we will always live on the fringes of society? I would never trade my spiritual path for anything. But it does get lonely. Is there a means and a way to integrate into society? I think not. What do you think?

I think by the very nature of our spiritual selfs that there is no way to really intergrate into society. When I am busy with the outside world I find that I do not get to spend nearly the same amount of time as a witch. (If that makes sense to you)

And I know that when I am within myself, I am happier, I get to be outside just being...tinkering in my kitchen with my current magical workings I tend to ignore the rest of the world. I have never made a happy middle ground, and since as the years go by I am more and more adapting my life to that of a witch, I spend less and less time running around with the mundane.

However I do have to say this-I love my computer. I love picking the brains of others and understand how they think, I just dont want to get caught up in all the drama and that is a huge reason why I reman a solitary witch.
